This is my brown and blue German kampfrau gown. I think this was 2008. It was last summer living near the San Francisco Bay area and I had the opportunity to attend Golden Gate Renaissance Faire with St. Maximillian's Landsknecht Re-enactment Guild. I also saw it as a fantastic opportunity to make the kampfrau gown I'd been longing to make. Technically, it is still unfinished because my original intent was to do slashing in the guards, but I'm going to call it good. The short sleeves are actually not unfinished, as they are a documented style from the woodcuts. They are cut on the bias, both for movement and so that the edge didn't need to be finished. My wulst and wulsthaube (that German mushroom-y headdress) is not authentically constructed, but gave the right look on short notice. I learned a lot for next time and, all in all, it was a success.
